Fan Park at Millennium Point 2006
T-Mobile Fan Park at Millennium Point, is the biggest celebration of the
World Cup outside of Germany.
With a capacity of 2,500 is proving a great attraction for the city. Most first round matches were watched one of Europe's largest screens
however on Tuesday 20th the 6m high by 10m wide (20ft by 30ft) digital
screen crashed to the ground after high winds. No one was hurt. A smaller
replacement screen was rushed to the site in time for the evening match.
With picnic-style seating, families can watch the games in comfort and at
England matches there will be live entertainment from chart-topping acts.
T-Mobile Fan Park is also be home to the FC T-Mobile Beach Soccer Stadium,
which is hosted a European Pro Tournament between 21 - 23 June, featuring
current Beach Soccer World Champions - France, England, Holland and
Portugal.
The scoreboard is the thought to be the biggest Word Cup wallchart in the
world measures 54 metres by 13.5 metres and is updated every day.
For public safety reasons, the England matches and the Final will be
ticketed and there will be a nominal fee for the England matches.
Tickets for England matches can be purchased either in person at the Central
Library box office or online at
www.birminghamboxoffice.com and will be sold on a first come first
served basis.
